Thapa's statement comes at a time when the country is debating legal and constitutional provisions for issuing natural citizenship.
Some argue that a new provision for the release of naturalized citizenship immediately after the marriage of foreigners can kill the national leaders, while women and other rights activists have demanded equal rights to get citizenship equal to their male counterparts.
Government has registered a proposal to amend the Citizenship Act, 2006 to start the provision of issuing natural citizenship to a married woman married to a Nepali man, for which she needs to leave her native citizenship within six months. According to the proposed provision, if he fails to produce documents to leave his previous citizenship, his citizenship will be canceled.
Many women and Madhesi MPs are against the requirement and are demanding easy provisions for achieving natural citizenship.
However, Home Minister Thapa defended the government's stand and claimed that it was a serious and sensitive issue.
Responding to the questions of the legislators while discussing the Bill for amending the Citizenship Act in a meeting of Parliamentary State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on Sunday, Thapa urged MPs to seriously consider Nepali to issue citizenship seriously Done
Recognizing that many non-Nepalese had obtained citizenship naturally from the first organized teams by the Home Ministry, Thapa said that there are hundreds of such certificates that need to be examined.
"Citizenship is related to national identity, security and integration. It is also related to empowering the citizens," Thapa said, if the issue of natural citizenship is not addressed properly, national security and integrity can be in danger. .
The demand for amendment has been made for the amendment of the government. Several members of the committee, including Rakesh Sharma, Krishna Gopal Shresth, Janardan Sharma, Jhapat Rawal, Yashoda Subeda Gurung and Pampa Bhusle, have demanded a thorough discussion on the amendment bill as this issue was a matter of serious national concern. They demanded tough measures for issuing citizenship.
Addressing the meeting, MP Jhapat Rawal demanded that the government has disclosed how many people have got citizenship on the basis of the birth of all the cards issued against non-Nepali documents against fake documents.
Rawal demanded, "Such citizenship should be canceled by making a judicial inquiry committee."
All MPs speaking on Sunday were baring foreigners from acquiring Nepalese citizenship, while no Nepali citizen of the recognition was denied. It was also decided in the meeting to discuss this issue with those MPs who have sought changes in the proposal.
